Opening a Personal Credit Account allows you to spread the cost of the items you’ve bought. We’ll send your first statement within 28 days of opening the account and every 28 days after that. Your statement will explain exactly how much you’ll need to pay, and when.

  1. What is a credit account?

    Opening a personal credit account allows you to spread the cost of the items you've bought. We'll send you a statement every 28 days, showing:

    • What's been sent to you
    • What you've returned
    • What you've paid
    • The balance remaining
    • The minimum payment required

    We offer a variety of options for you to make payments to your account, but the quickest and easiest way is via our website.

    Remember:

    • If you choose to make the minimum payment, or you pay less than the full outstanding balance, an interest charge will be applied to your account. This charge is calculated based on your statement's opening balance, any prior period interest due and any interest due on administration charges.
    • If you fail to make at least the minimum payment by the due date shown on your statement, you’ll incur an administration charge of £12.
    • If you only make the minimum payment each month, it will take you longer and cost you more to clear your balance.

    The exact terms that will apply to your account, including your APR (Annual Percentage Rate), will be detailed in your credit agreement. Subject to a successful online application, you can print and/or download the document to keep for future reference. If you apply via telephone, you’ll receive the document by post.

  2. When will I receive statements?

    Our statements are automatically issued every 28 days, and a payment is required every 28 days if there is a balance on the account. As this forms part of the terms and conditions for all of our customers, unfortunately we're unable to change the due date for your payment.

  3. When will I need to pay?

    If you have an outstanding balance on your account, we'll send you a statement through the post every 28 days. This will confirm your minimum payment and the date your payment needs to reach us.

    You can choose to pay the minimum payment on your account, a higher amount of your choice, or the full balance. Please see our terms and conditions for more information.

    You can check your balance at any time by signing in and clicking 'My Account'.

  4. How can I make a payment on my account?

    We offer a number of payment options, so you can choose the one that's most convenient for you

    • Via our website with credit or debit card
    • Direct debit
    • By phone with a credit or debit card
    • Standing order/telephone banking
    • At the Post Office
    • At your bank
    • Payzone

    You can also find our payment methods on the back of your statement.

    At the moment, we don't accept payments via PayPal.

  5. How will the Direct Debit work?

    You can set up a direct debit via our website by signing in and selecting 'Setup Direct Debit' from the 'My Account' menu.

    If you'd prefer to arrange this over the phone, please call 0871 231 2000 (calls cost 13p per minute plus your phone company's access charge). We're open from 8am-8pm Monday to Friday and 8am-6pm at weekends. You'll need to provide your bank name, account number and sort code.

    We can also send a direct debit mandate form to you through the post.

    Once your direct debit is arranged, a payment will be taken every 28 days, in line with our statement cycle - your statement will confirm the date that it'll be debited. You can pay a set amount, the minimum payment or the full balance on each statement.

    Just so you know, direct debits will show on your bank/building society statement under 'JD Williams'.
