Recreate Bake Off Bread Week At Home

Just three weeks into the new series, we’re already questioning what we did with our time before regaining our Tuesday night Bake Off fix. Taking on different challenges each week, the contestants of 2019 - as charming and hilarious as ever - have sieved, whisked and stirred their way through Cake Week, Biscuit Week, and now, Bread Week.

Bread Week is always an eagerly anticipated episode and the trials and tribulations of last night’s show did not disappoint. Glued to our settees like cherries on an iced bun, we watched as the remaining contestants took on a trio of bread-themed tasks: yeasted tear 'n' share for the Signature Bake, veggie burgers for the Technical Challenge and themed loaves for the Showstopper.

Kneadless to say, some of the bakers proved themselves, but others failed to rise to the challenge and were left dough-feated. Michael won the coveted title of Star Baker and received the first Hollywood Handshake of the season, but sadly, it was time for Amelia to hang up her apron.

How to Make Bread at Home

If you’re feeling inspired and fancy taking on some of the challenges yourself (without Paul Hollywood’s intense glare), we’ve compiled some of our favourite breadmaker recipes, along with the perfect breadmaker to make all your doughy dreams come true.
