5. What Are Bootcut Jeans?

An ever-popular pick in the denim world, bootcut jeans are characterised by a fit that tapers at the knee before loosening a little at the ankle. This loosening and extra room at the bottom of the jean therefore allows for a boot to be worn underneath the jean without any awkward stretching or pulling.

People often confuse the bootcut jean with bell bottoms and flares, but bootcut styles are much more subtly styled.

Bootcut jeans are very versatile, but tend to look their best when worked into a casual-chic look. A blazer and t-shirt combo will compliment your bootcut jeans perfectly and of course, the footwear has to be a pair of boots! For that all-important finishing touch, stow your essentials into a large, black shopper bag and accessorize with a chunky watch.

7. What Are High Waisted Jeans?

Also known as ‘mom jeans’, high-waisted jeans sit higher up on the waist as opposed to on the tummy or hips.

These jeans are famous for their figure-flattering tendencies, and are often styled with blouses and shirts tucked into the waistline.

A great pair of high-waisted jeans will cling to your curves & compliment your best bits, and what’s more, there are tons of different ways to wear them!

For a wow-worthy outfit that’ll turn heads for all the right reasons, tuck a long-sleeved jersey top into the waistline of your jeans and draw further attention to your middle by accessorizing with a statement belt. Footwear wise, don’t be afraid to go all-out. If you’re heading for drinks or a fancy meal out, strappy heels will provide the perfect finishing touch. Defined by their second skin style fit, skinny jeans are the one style of jean that just never goes out of fashion.

One of the many great things about skinny jeans is that they suit every body shape. Providing your skinny jeans are the right size (try not to go too big or small, or you’ll lose the effect), this classic closet essential will prove the gift that keeps on giving.

11. How To Wash Jeans

Knowing how to wash our clothes in the right way is so important - and our jeans are absolutely no exception to the rule. In washing our jeans correctly, we not only help keep the fabric feeling soft, we also protect the colour of the jeans, preventing any fading, and stop them from shrinking, too.

Denim is one of those fabrics that is prone to shrinking when washed - particularly when popped in the washing machine - so if you want to retain that perfect fit, be sure to pay close attention to the washing label.

When you buy your jeans, they should come with a washing label on the inside which will instruct you on how best to care for your jeans. Generally speaking, a lower degree wash is recommended (between 30 & 40 degrees) and shorter cycles are preferred, too.

If your jeans have been stained, you may wish to increase the temperature of the wash or introduce some intensive stain remover, too.

12. How Often Should You Wash Jeans

Washing jeans is a tricky thing to master, and one of the biggest dilemmas that we seem to encounter is the age-old question of ‘how often should we wash them?’

According to Marie Claire, we should be washing our jeans ‘not too often.’ In fact, according to their article Heads Up Denim Fans...You’re Probably Washing Your Jeans Too Much, writer Penny Goldstone suggests reducing your once weekly jeans wash down to once every two weeks or even once a month instead.

Of course, if your jeans have been subjected to an unsightly food or drink spillage, chuck them straight in the washing machine.

13. How To Remove Chewing Gum From Jeans

Chewing gum might keep your breath smelling fresh, but due to its sticky, stringy tendencies, if it lands anywhere but your mouth - primarily your clothes - it can cause a whole load of issues…

So, how do you remove chewing gum from jeans (or any other garment of clothing for that matter!)?

Today's Parent shared an article titled ‘3 Easy Ways To Remove Gum From Clothing’ back in 2016, and the tips including the following:

1. Microwave a bowl of vinegar for one minute before dipping the fabric into the bowl & scrubbing the gum off with an old toothbrush

2. Heat up the gum with a hair dryer & scrape away with a plastic knife

3. Pop ice cubes on top of the gum for 30 minutes before moving the fabric to a flat surface and scraping the now frozen gum away with a knife

Whether or not these tips will prove effective in every single case of chewing gum faux pas is impossible to say, but hey, it won’t hurt to give them a go!

14. What To Wear With Grey Jeans

Grey is having a serious moment right now, and as well as being a popular interior design colour, it's also a super versatile shade to pop into your wardrobe, too. So, it'll come as no surprise that so many women are super keen to discover fresh and innovative ways to wear grey jeans.

One of the many great things about grey is the fact that it's so functional. Your grey jeans will team up effortlessly with a whole ton of garments and accessories. The possibilities are endless!

For a timelessly trendy look that's sleek and sophisticated from top to toe, we recommend styling your grey skinny jeans with a chic, white blouse and a statement red handbag. Footwear wise, a pair of animal print mules will bring a wild finishing touch, meanwhile lashings of jet black mascara will help instantly dial up the glamour.

15. How To Turn Jeans Into Denim Shorts

At some point or another, we've all tried to transform a pair of unwanted, old jeans into ripped denim shorts - but honestly, it's a much better (and wiser) idea to buy your frayed denim shorts ready-made.

Not only does buying your denim shorts remove the risk of any nasty accidents, you'll find that the finish is a lot more polished, too.

We've got countless pairs of plus size denim shorts on offer for you to pick from, so save yourself the hassle, and buy a pair instead!

16. Can You Wear Jeans On A Night Out?

And finally, if you've been wondering if you can wear jeans on a night out, or if you can wear jeans in the evening, then you'll be pleased to hear that the answer is 'YES - absolutely!'

As we've mentioned previously, women's jeans are incredibly functional and versatile, meaning that they can be worn morning till night and still look totally fabulous. To take your look from off-duty chic to full-force glamour, simply swap your flat shoes for a pair of wide fit heels, and layer on the lipstick. Gorgeous!
